about

Originally formed in 1995, Pop/Punk band Turbo Pascal is excited to share their first full-length album in 27 years (not a typo), and latest release since their 2015 EP Awkward at Parties on Pass Out Records. Turbo’s new 10-song LP City Soundscape ranges from fast and furious to laid back and melodic.

Like many artists and musicians during the pandemic, singer/lyricist Anthony Silano and guitarist/songwriter Michael Marty found themselves grounded at home pining for creative expression. Silano, who lives in Santa Rosa, California, and Marty who resides just outside Denver, began swapping song files and ideas with the hopes of collaborating on a few new tunes to pass the time. The two longtime friends—who met in freshman Algebra class at MacArthur High School in Decatur, Illinois—quickly realized they had the genesis of the next Turbo Pascal release. Over the next two years they each set up makeshift home studios and used recording software Ableton Live to mix and master tracks with Marty at the helm as engineer and producer. The result is 10 diverse songs that lyrically wax on life in isolation from friends and family (pop/punk anthem "Hey Friend), social injustice (title track "City Soundscape"), the pitfalls of pride and ego (surf rock infused "Tsunami"), as well as comedic jabs at middle-age ("Oldest Groomsman" and "Trapped in a Culdesac") and an ukulele homage to Hawaii Five-O and Magnum P.I. ("Drama at the Ilikai").

Named after Silano’s father, Pasquale—a frequent traveler between the United States and his hometown of Lapio, Italy—Turbo Pascal’s full lineup also features Danny John of Chicago on bass and seasoned percussionist and music producer James Triechler on drums. Saxophonist JJ Peterson of North Carolina makes a stellar appearance on "Oldest Groomsman."
